Check out photos from our first ever Watermelon Bash. The event helped raise $500 for Cystic Fibrosis. The event was kick started by a ceremonial smashing of a watermelon by Owen Gerdes. Following the smash, events like tug-o-war, seed spitting, shot-put, and a watermelon decorating contest kept the day exciting. A special thanks goes out to the Gerdes family, Kroger, and all of our participants!

The brothers of Gamma-Gamma Zeta were the first Greek organization to play host to University President Greg Williams on April 27th. The event was a huge success! Dinner was held in the chapter house dining room with a short program following. President Williams addressed the chapter remarking on our philanthropic contributions to the community, Representing the C, and the future of the University of Cincinnati. A special thanks goes out to the University President, Special Guest MJ Klyn, all of our alumni in attendance, and the many brothers that helped put on such a successful event.

In the January 2008 issue of the Cross & Crescent, the Centennial logo contest was announced. Many great designs were submitted and all were greatly appreciated and deserved high praise. One submission stood out though. The submission by Robert Grove (Cincinnati 1969) was not only visually pleasing but had the deep meaning Lambda Chi Alpha has come to expect from our symbols. Like on our Coat of Arms, all components of the Centennial logo have significance.

  • Cross & Crescent: Represents leadership as symbolized by the crest in our coat of arms.
  • Shield: Represents the protection of our history and traditions and is made up of two ordinaries representing the historic union of Lambda Chi Alpha and Theta Kappa Nu fraternities. The “2009" charge denotes our centennial year and is strategically placed over both ordinaries.
  • Centennial Streamer: Represents the expanding circle of our brotherhood and denotes the unique commemoration for which this logo is designed.
  • Greek Letters: Lambda, Chi, and Alpha are rendered in a contemporary stylization that represents a solid dynamic future for our Fraternity.
  • Motto “A Century of True Brotherhood”: This component may appear appropriately with the logo where size and space allows, but is not considered an integral part of the logo itself. All integral design elements of the logo should remain unchanged to provide a unified visual focal point for our entire celebration. The motto may be moved to the right of the logo if accompanied by “Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity”. This is used primarily for letterhead.

Congratulations to Brother Grove for his work on Lambda Chi Alpha’s Centennial logo.
