Dear Brothers:
If you're like us you remember the days at 332 Probasco Street with a great deal of fondness. The memories of those times at UC and the Lambda Chi house have a way of living with us forever. The bonds and friends we made then are undoubtedly the friends we still have and will have forever!
But times have changed! Unfortunately, the house we owned at 332 Probasco for over 50 years could no longer serve our requirements and had to be sold in 2004. It is now completely gone! We moved into "Stratford Heights" a new development for fraternal living at UC. But when the UC Housing Department decided to manage the house, costs went up and it became increasingly difficult to attract residents. It became apparent we needed to once again own our house.
We are now leasing a beautiful house formerly occupied by Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. It is large, in great shape and just off campus on Clifton Avenue. (A full description is included in the accompanying brochure.) Our lease is up in August 2010 at which time we must either commit to the purchase price of $550,000 and come up with a 20% down payment or the men will be forced to move out and search for a new home.
Here's where we need your help. We're going all out to reach as many brothers as possible—as we will be seeking your financial assistance in making this new home for Gamma-Gamma Zeta a reality. It is no doubt a stressful time to be asking for a donation - but just consider the same thing must have taken place when the house on Probasco was purchased - and that's what made our years at UC so memorable! So please help us provide the same opportunities to those that follow.
The money we raise will be used primarily for the down payment to purchase the house, but there are many necessary and required improvements to be made:
With your support we will make this happen.
Yours in ZAX,
David Klingshirn, Committee Chair, GG0647
Scott Spangler, Honorary Co-Chair, GG0629
Dick Thornburgh, Honorary Co-Chair, GG0964
P.S. Be sure you check out the attached brochure for more information. And to see more of this really great house, meet some of the actives and get in on some of the creative gift-naming opportunities that are still available go online to www.lambdachiuc.com/campaign
We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha, and its traditions, principles, and ideals. The crescent is our symbol — pure, high, and ever growing; and the cross is our guide — denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal.
May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts, that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love.
