Associate Member vs. Pledging

"Why Pledge with the rest when you can Associate with the best?"

This is the motto of Lambda Chi Alpha's Associate Member program. We were the first international fraternity to abolish the act of hazing members in 1972. Since then, we have led the way in anti-hazing campaigns by giving our new members the same rights as other brothers immediately after accepting their bid. We believe that by incorporating new members into our brotherhood instead of pushing them away from it, the chapter can only benefit from the results.

Brotherhood

What exactly is "brotherhood" to Lambda Chi? To us, brotherhood is all about having people there that are willing to help; help with grades, help with personal problems, or help with any pressing dilemma that may arise. brotherhood is knowing full well that everyone in the chapter, whether they are your best friend or not, will be ready to assist you. Brotherhood is hanging out all hours of the night, not really doing or talking about anything, and still having the time of your life. Brotherhood is the formals, the cookouts, the football and soccer games, the weekend road trips, the sorority socials, and other events that make college the best four (but sometimes five or six) years of your life. The brotherhood of Lambda Chi Alpha doesn't end with graduation . . . it's for life.

Creed

We believe in Lambda Chi Alpha and its traditions, principles, and ideals. The crescent is our symbol; pure, high, ever growing, and the cross is our guide; denoting service, sacrifice, and even suffering and humiliation before the world, bravely endured if need be, in following that ideal.

May we have faith in Lambda Chi Alpha and passion for its welfare. May we have hope for the future of Lambda Chi Alpha and strength to fight for its teachings. May we have pure hearts, that we may approach the ideal of perfect brotherly love.

Philanthropy

Let’s face it, attending college is a privilege. And as a group with privilege it is essential that we give back to those who are less fortunate. In essence, that is the basis of any service/philanthropic event. No matter which chapter with which a member is affiliated, the NAFD will provide a commonality of experience that helps contribute to the bond that Lambda Chi Alpha brothers and associate members share through our traditions, and rituals.

Brothers Feeding Others -- That’s the theme as more than 10,000 brothers of more than 200 chapters of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity complete the largest single-day fraternity philanthropic project in North America. Lambda Chi Alpha raises several hundred thousand pounds of food annually to benefit local shelters, food pantries and assistance programs in their communities.
